Visionary Social Scientist
"Despite all the praise, our science appears to be stuck at a rather early stage of development. Radically new discoveries and applications remain far from our sight insofar as we remain fixated on materialism and scientific reductionism."
As a free thinker with a pragmatic and holistic outlook on life and the world, I’ve come to believe that a radical evolution is much needed within academia, both in terms of content and method. Reductionist and materialist science needs to be complemented and redirected through a “Science with a Heart.”
A Science with a Heart assumes benevolent foundations for Life, in which everything matters and has an evolutionary meaning. It honors higher intuition and sentiments, common sense, and spiritual awareness. It is a mindful and open-minded science, free from disciplinary parochialism, Western stereotypes, outdated ideologies, and partisan vested interests. It is a highly sophisticated and diversified science that fully accounts for interdependence, complexity, and metaphysical causation, and is able to pave the way for the kind of cutting-edge and unconventional paths of regeneration and healing that these times of great crisis call forth.
My peculiar contribution to creating a Science with a Heart is twofold. On one side, I am working to define an overarching ontological framework that reconciles the scientific (i.e. empirical and focused on the outer world) with the spiritual (i.e. intuitive and focused on the inner world) views of the world. On the other, I focus on my field of choice, economics and business, to understand how a more enlightened paradigm is already emerging—one that isn’t purely and blindly focused on maximization (“producing,” “consuming,” and “making money”), but accounts for new and more evolved values, purposes, and rhythms.
Finally, I try to translate this work into practical terms by spearheading the creation of an entirely new academic system, one in which research and higher education are informed not only by a new conception of what constitutes scientific content, but also by a more enlightened and human-centered culture and modus operandi.
For several years, I’ve been invited to participate in some of the world’s most cutting-edge networks of visionaries, professionals, scientists, and educators—spaces where a new, spiritually informed social and scientific paradigm is being actively explored. I regularly travel to the UK and Iceland as a board member of the Scientific and Medical Network and as part of the circle of wisdom supporting the Spirit of Humanity Forum. I’ve also taken part in gatherings across Europe, such as ChangeNOW, the Inner Development Goals Summit, and the Wellbeing Economy Forum, while participating in many other programs both online and in person.
I see myself as a bridge-builder across these initiatives and a weaver of a broader tapestry—a meta-forum that can provide the critical mass and foundation for next-generation social infrastructures. In particular, I envision the emergence of a new world-class leadership school and educational alliance that can help bring the models born within these networks beyond their current niches, reaching broader audiences and global decision-makers.
